Third a lot of research from Harvard show and validate the mind-body connection. With over 60,000 thoughts a day it is important to remove the negative and replace it with positive thoughts.

Fourth self affirmations become your reality.

Fifth visualization can help you take control of your thoughts and you can visualize your way to health.

  • Whenever there are aches and pains the first thing we do is touch and massage the area
  • We use loving touch to comfort people especially moms affirming or consoling their kids
  • In American Society it’s swinging in the opposite direction – no touch and no affirmation

    • Removes the toxins
    • Helps release oxytocin in the brain
    • Touch does a lot of things physiologically it helps relax the muscle
  • Alternative medicine doesn’t need to be abrupt. You can start with small things.  Be gentle with yourself and have realistic expectations.
  • Be honest with your practitioners and physicians as they will be able to take better care of you when you have all the cards laid down
  • We should be taking high quality multi-vitamins and minerals
  • We have a lot of genetically modified food and our soil has been depleted so it’s ok to add supplements into your diet.
  • Organic food does a lot of good
  • Find out the dirty dozen list of foods
  • Know what you are consuming – take a look at what you are eating and take only the best stuff
  • Mind-body medicine – emotional issues have physiological impact
  • We are daydreaming all day with an estimated 60,000 thoughts.  Remove worry from it.
  • Pick up the positive and “worry”about that happening instead of worrying about something that may never happen
  • We can’t occupy space at the same time. Replace the negative thought with a positive one.
  • The stress response makes us sick.
  • Do affirmations before you sleep and wake up feeling refreshed.
    • Affirmation: I fall asleep quickly and easily and wake up feeling refreshed.
  • Visualize your way to health
    • Visualize your white blood cells like a cavalry and healing you
    • Visualize you have a good immunity

Dr. Kathy Gruver started studying massage and natural health over two decades ago. She has built up an award-winning massage and natural health practice, starred in her own television series, written several books, produced a DVD, lectured all over the country, appeared on Lifetime Television’s “The Balancing Act” and have pursued degrees in higher education.

She has written dozens health and wellness articles.  She has been featured as an expert in numerous publications including Glamour, Fitness, Time, Wall Street Journal, CNN, WebMD, Prevention, Men’s Health, Huffington Post, Yahoo.com, Ladies Home Journal, Massage and Bodyworks Magazine, and Massage Magazine.

She has appeared as a guest expert on over 200 radio and TV shows including NPR, SkyNews London, CBS Radio, and Lifetime Television, and have done over 100 educational lectures around the country.

She earned her PhD in Natural Health and studied further at Harvard Medical School and the National Institutes of Health.

Her first health book, “The Alternative Medicine Cabinet” was selected as a Winner of the Beverly Hills Book Awards and a Finalist for the IndyExcellence Awards. And her latest work, “Conquer your Stress with Mind/Body Techniques” has won five awards for excellence.

For fun and stress relief she does flying trapeze and hip hop dance.
